LLIN free distribution in Jhapa Nepal

22 Feb 2010, Jhapa Nepal. Under Ministry of Health and Population program, this year’s LLIN distribution program began today. Senior Public Health Administrator Nawa Raj Subba opened the program by distributing LLIN to locals at Khudunabari Jhapa today. 49,000 bednets will be distributed in Khudunabari VDC including refugee camp, Sanischare, Surunga and Jyamirgadhi VDCs this year. Global Fund has funded, PSI has facilited and Human Welfare Council has coordinated the program.

Music against Malaria

31 Jan 2010, Jhapa Nepal. A musical concert "Music against Malaria" successfully took place at Sanischare Jhapa. Singers Kunti Moktan, Rima Gurung, Nalina Chitrakar, Dipak Limbu and Tara Laksam were presenting their popular songs with useful public health messages to audience. Miss Nepal Sugarika KC and Mamphi Ghosh were anchoring the program attractively. The program was a part of awareness rrogram of Ministry of Health and Population which was supported by Global Fund, facilitated by PSI and coordinated by Human Welfare Council. Local government officials, representatives from political parties and large number of audience were present on the program.

Leprosy Elimination at Country Level

Jan 19, 2010 (Kathmandu). Nepal has announced as elimination of Leprosy at national level not at district level. Government of Nepal declared Nepal as Leprosy eliminated country. Ministry of Health and Population officially announced this in an official program in Kathmandu. Elimination of Leprosy is called when there is prevalence rate less than 1 per 10,000 population. But Terai districts have not achieved the goal of elimination since Terai districts are having more than 2 per 10,000 and they are leprosy hyperendemic districs. Leprosy elimination campaign had been started in Nepal since 1954.The country had first announced 2003 as the year to eliminate leprosy from the country. Since it failed to declare the country leprosy elimination in 2003, then it aimed to meet the same target in 2005, 2007 and 2008.Lastly, 2009 had been selected as the target year.Although the WHO had set an aim to eliminate leprosy from the world within the year 2000, some countries like Nepal, Congo, Brazil and Mozambique could not meet the target.Leprosy is a disease of skin and nerves caused by bacteria, called Mycobacterium leprae.

राष्ट्रिय एकता दिवस भव्य

पौष २७, २०६६, इटहरा मोरङ । भव्य अन्तरक्रिया कार्यक्रम गर्दै राष्ट्रिय एकता दिवस इटहरा मोरङमा मनाइयो । प्रमुख वक्ताहरु नेपाली भाषाविद प्रा. डा. टँक न्यौपाने, वुद्धिजीवि परिषदका अध्यक्ष तथा समालोचक प्रा.डा. बद्रिविशाल पोखरेल र साहित्यकार नवराज सुब्बा रहेको कार्यक्रममा स्थानीय वुद्धिजीवि, प्राध्यापक, शिक्षक, विद्यार्थी, नागरिक समाजका प्रतिनिधिहरुले बोलेका थिए ।

प्रा.डा. टँक न्यौपानेले नेपालको एकिकरण नभएको भए आज हामी नेपाली भएर रहने थिएनौं भन्नुभयो । उहाँले राष्ट्रनिर्माता पृथ्वीनारायण शाहको चर्चा गर्दै इतिहास पात्रका राम्रा र नराम्रा दुवै कामको बिना पूर्वाग्रह मूल्याङ्कन हुनपर्छ भन्नुभयो । प्रा.डा. बद्रीविशाल पोखरेलले पृथ्वीनारायण शाह सामान्तविरोधी तथा साम्राज्यविरोधी थिए भन्नुभयो । साहित्यकार नवराज सुब्बाले सबै जातको साझा फूलबारी हाम्रो देशलाई सबै नेपालीको राष्ट्र बनाउन साँस्कृतिक एकता बलियो बनाउन साहित्य र कलाको माध्यमबाट पनि टेवा दिने बेला आएको बताउनु भयो ।

इटहरा मोरङमा सञ्चालित कार्यक्रमलाई वरिष्ठ साहित्यकार मोदनाथ प्रश्रीत, प्रा.डा. कृष्णहरि बराल, प्रा. जयराज आचार्यद्वारा एकता दिवस सफलताको लागि पठाइएका शुभकामनापत्रहरु कार्यक्रममा वाचन गरिएको थियो । शिक्षक थिरनाथ दाहालको अध्यक्षतामा भएको समारोह गीतकार युवराज पौडेलले सञ्चालन गर्नुभएको थियो ।

NEPHA 11th Assembly

November 28, 2009, Lalitpur. 11th Annual General Assembly of Nepal Public Health Association held at Jawalakhel Lalitpur. The assembly was inaugurated by Minister of State for Health and Population. Contemporary public Health issues were discussed in the meeting.

Swine Flu Border Screenings Relaxed

15 Oct. 2009, District Public Health Office Jhapa has stopped screening of visitors for Influenza A H1N1 which was started from July 2009 at Kakarvitta Jhapa. After indigenous cases of Swine Flu detected in Chitwan, Department of Health Services Kathmandu circulated guidelines and the Health Desk has been closed, said DPHO official. Awareness campaign and trainging on Swine flu for health workers are being conducted in Jhapa.
